The Franklin County Jail Handbook (PDF) is available online. The following Franklin County Jail policies and procedures are provided for your information and do not constitute all of the policies and procedures of Franklin County Jail. Non-confidential policies and procedures can be obtained by writing to the Assistant Jail Administrator. Requestors can expect to pay $.25 per page.

Inmate Visits
To request a visit with a FCDC inmate, please call (207) 778-3032. Please learn more about inmate visits by reading the Franklin County Jail Inmate Visit Policy and Procedure (PDF). Posting Bail
If you wish to post someone’s bail you will need to come in person to the Franklin County Detention Center. You will need the inmate’s name, the bail amount (in cash), and the Bail Commissioner’s fee (in cash).
After your arrival at the Correctional Facility the following process will occur:

The bail amount will be verified by a Correctional Officer.

You will be instructed to wait in the Correctional Facility Lobby until the Bail Commissioner arrives.

The Intake Officer will contact a Bail Commissioner.

The Bail Commissioner will meet with you in the lobby of the Correctional Facility to collect the bail money and complete all required documentation.
This process will take a minimum of one hour to complete.
